Doctor has license revoked over unpaid child support

Every child deserves the love and support of his or her family. When parents separate, even if they are not on good terms, most still want the best for their children. Among other things, this means discussing custody terms and determining child support obligations. In Arizona, family law aims to help parents reach an agreement that is in the best interests of the child. Both parents are obliged to abide by this agreement, and matters such as delinquent payments are taken very seriously.

In Oklahoma, a doctor is facing legal repercussions for failing to keep up with child support payments. According to the Department of Human Services, the amount owed by this doctor totals $20,000. Such a sum can have a significant impact on a child's welfare, and the court appears to have taken this into account in their judgment. As a result, the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure has received orders to revoke the doctor's medical license.

License revocation is, of course, highly detrimental to an individual's career. By removing the doctor's license to practice, the board forces him to either deal with the child support issue or seek another line of work. Once the doctor has paid the amount owed or arranged a payment deal, it will be possible for him to have his license reinstated.

Although this doctor works in another state, his case serves as an example to residents of Arizona. Children's well-being is of great importance under state law, so the consequences of missing support payments are often severe. If you feel you are owed child support, it is crucial to act. A knowledgeable party can guide you through state legislation and help you to track down delinquent payments for the good of your child.
